Step 1: Log Into 4473 Cloud
Open your web browser and go to the http://poweredby.4473cloud.com/.
Enter your email address associated with your 4473 Cloud account.
Click Continue to proceed.
Step 2: Select Your FFL
You will see a list of your available Federal Firearms Licenses (FFLs).
Select the FFL for which you want to back up documents.
Step 3: Download the Backup Tool
Once inside your dashboard, locate the section that says:
“Backing up your 4473s just got easier!”
Click the Download now button to download the Backup Tool installer. You can also access the backup tool download from your Organization or FFL Settings, located in the profile dropdown in the top-right corner.
Locate the installer and follow the prompts to install the 4473 Cloud Backup Tool on your computer.
Step 4: Open the Backup Tool
On your Windows taskbar, click the Hidden Icons arrow (^) near the bottom-right corner.
Find and click the 4473 Backup Tool icon to open the application to login.
Step 5: Set Your Scheduled Export Time
Once logged in, you will see the Backup Tool dashboard.
Click Schedule settings to begin configuring your backup preferences.
In the File Sync Settings screen, choose a time for your daily export.
We recommend selecting a time 30 minutes to 1 hour before closing.
This ensures backups are completed at the end of the business day.
Under Selected Export Path, click Browse.
Select the folder on your computer where you want your 4473 files stored.
After selecting your export time and folder location, click Save Settings.
Your Backup Tool is now configured.
Step 6: Download All Files (First-Time Setup Only)
For the first backup, you must download all existing files:
Click the profile/menu icon in the top-right corner.
Select Download All Files.
This will download everything currently stored in your cloud account to your local machine.
Step 7: Confirm Sync Is Working
After syncing completes each day, you will see a status such as:
Sync Healthy – Good
Your local file count will increase as documents download.
Step 8: Open Your Backup Folder
In the Backup Tool, click Open Folder next to Local Files.
This will open the folder where your backups are stored.
Inside the folder, click the folder name you selected.
You will then see subfolders organized by:
FFL Number
Year
Month
Day
This makes it easy to locate documents quickly.
Navigate through the folders by date.
Inside, you will find the PDF copies of your completed 4473 forms.
Your backups are now stored safely on your computer.

The 4473 Cloud Backup Tool is now installed, scheduled, and syncing your documents automatically.
